Gautam Dhingra, CFA
CEO and Portfolio Manager
Gautam Dhingra is the Founder and CEO of High Pointe Capital Management, LLC. Under his leadership, High Pointe has built an enviable investment performance record and counts some of the largest pension plans in the country as its clients.
From 2008 to 2010, Gautam was also a Lecturer of Finance at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. In this role, he designed and taught a graduate level Finance course entitled The Business of Investing. This unique courses discusses how the "business" of money management is done and how it ought to be done.
Prior to starting High Pointe, Gautam was the partner in charge of investment consulting at Hewitt Associates responsible for the Midwest, southwest and western United States. Gautam joined Hewitt in 1986 as Director of Investment Research and became a Partner in the firm in 1993. He developed the firm's asset allocation model and led the team that developed its 401k plan investment consulting practice. His work in the area of asset allocation was recognized when he was invited to write the chapter on Asset-Liability Management for the Pension Investment Handbook.
At Hewitt, Gautam advised numerous blue-chip clients as to how to structure their investment programs. Over the years, his clients included the following twelve members of the Fortune 100 List - Citicorp, Verizon, Target, Safeway, Sprint, Allstate, Motorola, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, General Dynamics, Liberty Mutual and John Deere.
Gautam has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the CFA Society of Chicago. He has also served as a member of the Board of Regents of the 2007, 2008, and 2009 Financial Analysts Seminar presented by the CFA Institute. Currently, he is the co-Chair of CFA Institute Investment Research Challenge, Chicago Chapter.
Gautam hold a Ph.D. in finance, with a specialization in investments, from the University of Florida where he also taught courses in Securities Analysis and Derivatives. He is a CFA charter holder having earned his charter in 1987.
Gautam has written and published several articles. His latest article is entitled Intangibles: The Next Frontier in Stock Valuation. Some of his other articles have been published in the Journal of Pension Benefits, Pension Investment Handbook, and Pension World. He is currently in the process of writing his first book that will enable individuals to become savvier about protecting and growing their wealth.
